About
Sanders Blades of WV LLC

Material
I use a high carbon 1095 steel for my blades. After heat treating, the blades are approx. between 60-62 on the Rockwell Hardness scale. Full tang handles can be made from multiple different materials. Do to the use of high carbon steel the blades can achieve a remarkably sharp edge and maintain that edge but do require thorough cleaning, drying, and oiling after every use to prevent rust and corrosion. Depending on the material, handles are usually sealed with polyurethane.

Background
I am an avid outdoors man born and raised in West Virginia with huge passion for blades. I have been a knife enthusiast ever sense I was a young boy and was given my first pocket knife. Through my life experiences of hunting, fishing, farming, construction and The United States Army, I have developed a craftsmanship of making quality usable blades. I decided to make my own blades after numerous disappointments in other manufactured cutlery. I have a few requirements when looking for a blade, quality steel that can take and hold an edge, craftsmanship, and a reasonable price. These are the same characteristics that I provide to each customer with each and every blade I make. I am a small back yard shop in which I am the only employee, so no delegation is given. I continue this business only for the pure enthusiasm and love of blades and making them.

Customization & Process
My blades are not premade, they are customized to each particular customer. Before any process is started I personally speak with the customer to get a feel for the desired use. From that I develop a design and present it to the customer for final decision and the building begins. I encourage the customer to supply something sentimental that can be used as a handle or design feature to give the blade the customs own personal significance. Based on many factors with custom handmade blades the turnaround time is at a minimum of one month.
